About The Venue
Umatilla Sage Riders is conveniently located on Hwy 395 near Hermiston, Oregon close to the majestic Columbia River and the site of the Lewis and Clark Trail. Umatilla Sage Riders has a clubhouse, arena and trail course on site. Dry camping is available and you may bring your own pen or containment system.
Friday we will be hosting a Trail Challenge at the nearby Hat Rock State Park. Plenty of parking but no overnight camping at Hat Rock. Camping will be available at Sage Riders.
*A potluck is planned for Saturday evening.*
Event Details
Friday
Trail Challenge (TC) – a relaxing trail ride with judged obstacles along the trail and possibly in camp. All riding disciplines are welcome.
Saturday
In Hand (IH) – a dismounted event in an arena/field, halter and lead rope preferred. All equines welcome – any size, breed, and age.
Obstacle Course (OC) – a mounted event in an arena/field. A saddle (treeless included) and headstall with reins are required. All riding disciplines are welcome.
Sunday
Obstacle Course (OC) – a mounted event in an arena/field. A saddle (treeless included) and headstall with reins are required. All riding disciplines are welcome.
The Terrain
Hat Rock State Park: Gravel roads, sandy trails with some rock, barefoot friendly. We will be parking in upper lot at the main park.
Umatilla Sage Riders Arena: Sandy arena, some gravel and rocks. Barefoot friendly
Meals
Light breakfast and lunch items may be available for purchase at the Umatilla Sage Riders clubhouse. Potluck on Saturday evening,
Awards
Beautiful ribbons – 1st-6th place Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced! 1st-3rd place Junior (age 13-17), 1st-3rd place Youngin’ (age 7-12), and 1st place Newcomer.
Lifetime Awards (Equine & Rider) – Sign up 2 weeks in advance to get your qualifying awards!
Equine Awards – Your equine will earn a beautiful kilt pin adding copper, bronze, silver, and golden carrot charms as they progress through the levels. Equine points accumulate no matter who rides the equine.
Rider Awards – You will earn a beautiful kilt pin adding copper, bronze, silver, and golden star charms as you progress through the levels. Rider Points accumulate no matter which equine is ridden.
Additional Fees
**Please Note**: Payment for ALL Amenities reserved at the time of online registration are due ON SITE and are NOT collected at the time of online registration. This includes camping fees, pens and daily haul in fees.
Registering online will give you the best (early bird) pricing! There is a $10 increase per entry for onsite registration.
